Pot răsufla ușurat. Am aflat de ce nu știam poemul “Am învățat”, al lui Octavian Paler. Explicația e pe cât de simplă pe cât de neserioasă. Fragmentul, în varianta lui englezească “I’ve learned”, nu-i aparține scriitorului român, mi-a atras atenția cineva, ci unui oarecare Omer B. Washington. Atât de oarecare încât nu se găsește ceva despre el nici măcar pe Wikipedia. Dar netul e plin de poemul de mai jos semnat cu numele său. Ca dovadă supremă, am de partea mea perpetuumul motoraș google: peste două milioane de pagini pentru “Omer B. Washington – I’ve learned”, și doar peste două mii de pagini pentru “Octavian Paler - Am învățat”. Oare am zis bine doar ? Cred că sunt multe, date fiind circumstanțele. Mult prea multe.
Acum îmi explic și de ce am avut impresia pregnantă că sună mai bine în engleza. Nu șiu cine și în ce scop i-a atribuit lui Octavian Paler poemul dar nu a făcut nici un bine nimănui. Deși recunosc că fragmentul aduce foarte mult cu scrierile autorului "Autoportretului într-o oglindă spartă."
