Petrecere

   În seara asta, venind spre casă, duceam în mâini două sticle, de 5 litri, de apă, plată, rece – e, slavă cerului, în sfârşit, cum ar fi trebuit de mult să fie, ger.
   După ce dau un colţ, în faţa mea, la vreo 50 de metri, din sens opus apare un tip. Duce în mâini două sticle, de cinci litri, de apă, nu ştiu dacă plată, rece. Trecem unul pe lângă altul.
    El o fi observat că şi eu, ca şi el, duceam în mâini două sticle, de…

Am scris odată, când aveam vreo 18 ani o poezie.
Uitandu-mă pe fereastră - eram trist- vedeam vizavi de mine o cârciumă, care avea un horn, din care horn  ieşea un nor gros de fum. Şi pe norul ăsta de fum un felinar din stradă proiecta umbra unui copac care era ceva mai în spate.
Ei bine, umbra proiectată pe fum mi s-a părut că este cel mai diafan, cel mai efemer lucru posibil... o umbra pe fum. Şi acum, gândindu-mă, îmi vine să cred că, dacă numai asta rămâne dintr-un om, o umbră proiectată pe o perdea de fum şi tot e un lucru extraordinar…

Better

The only way to shoot more interesting photographs
is to become a more interesting person.
And, how do you do that?

Listen more, talk less.
Travel more.
Make friends with people who are smarter than you.
Eat stuff you never tried before.
Date your wife. Or husband.
Go some place scary.
Change political parties for a while.
Read more novels. Read more poems.
Go to a mosque. Go to a church or go to a synagogue. Go to
a house of worship that's not your current brand.
Go to museums. Look at the art.
Go on a life threatening adventure.
Try spending time between artists.
Change your habits.
Learn new stuff from your kids.
Pick a place that's one tank of gas away and go there.
Try your hand at abstract painting.
Take naps in the middle of the day and stay up all night.
Spend a month on a cargo ship; or a fishing boat.
Put down your cameras until you really learn how to tell interesting stories.

Become a more interesting person
and you'll take more interesting photographs.
Really.
